Our next meeting will feature two live models in Native American costumes. We will sketch and/or paint. Photographers bring your cameras, and everyone else bring your supplies. Artists' Choice Awards will be given, so members, bring your art creations.

Exhibiting Opportunity and Holiday Artists' Reception

Past active members and officers of Rivertown Artists' Guild as well as current members are invited to exhibit their work from December 5 to February 27, 2010 at the Wyoming Public Library Gallery. Entry forms are available through our website.

The drop off and pick up times are 9:30 am to 12:00 noon. At 1:15 p.m. on the day of the drop off, there will be a holiday reception in Room C, right off the Gallery. Coffee, tea, light hors h'oeuvres and desserts will be provided by attending members.

Lynne O'Rourke is the guest speaker at our meeting this month. She is a talented collage artist, art juror and educator. She will describe and demonstrate her creative and unique art form. Please join us at 7:00 p.m. for the September meeting. Our special guest speaker will be artist, college professor and illustrator John Knight. He will discuss various forms of art over the forty years he has practiced art. There may be an art demonstration.

We will have an Artists' Choice Award for members and bring completed Artists Trading Cards to trade!

REB ROBERTS will be the special guest at this month's meeting at the Arts Council. Reb has inspired the Grand Rapids Art community with his 'folk art' and 'outsider art' as an artist and owner of Sanctuary Art Gallery. Find out what he is working on for the upcoming Grand Rapids art celebrations. Bring some portable supplies and create a piece of art in the style of 'folk art.'

March Meeting

'Still Life Creations' Bring a friend and your favorite art supplies and learn to create a still-life in a unique way! Bring a finished painting for Artists' Choice Awards. Do you have a painting/drawing you are stuck on? Email me, Wendy and request an AHA (Artists Helping Artists) session at the beginning of the meeting. Come to be with other artists, and sketch/paint. We look forward to seeing you!

RIVERTOWN ARTISTS' GUILD Meeting Tomorrow Night!‏
Hello Rivertown Artists!

Don't forget the meeting tomorrow night! Board Members and Committee Chairmen please come EARLY so that we can start at 6:00 p.m. We have some important things to cover befor the regular meeting.

NAMETAGS - Decorate one and wear it to this meeting. Artists' Choice Awards will be based upon the best ones!

WEBSITE DEMO - Sara Pearson will be bringing the semi-final prototype of our website. We will have a couple of computers running and hooked up to the Internet to show everyone some ways in and out.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT to the meeting this month is as follows:


For our mini-event, Lynn O’Rourke will set up a still-life arrangement and Vickie Reynolds will demonstrate a few techniques with graphite and charcoal. Please bring your own black & white media supplies, whatever you prefer (which can certainly include wet media such as sumi ink, pen or collage.) The following list is a suggestion only.


· Newsprint, charcoal paper, Mi-Teintes or other toned paper (just whatever you’ve got)


· Graphite pencils or sticks, 2B, 4B & 6B

· Charcoals (vine, compressed and pencils of various hardness)

· White "charcoal" pencil


· Kneaded eraser & pink eraser

· Cotton cloth scraps or chamois

· Drawing board & clips or tape

· Pencil sharpener

Vickie will bring extra supplies to share for those who don’t own this type of media.
